Hispanics have been known for their
kindness, generosity and willing to give a
helping hand. This was especially true when
the San Antonio HOPE Chapter participated in
a Community Service project in conjunction
with the City of San Antonio. Members from
our Chapter gathered at two residences to
help with yard work and clean up around the
exterior of their homes. At the first stop, two
elderly people needed a helping hand with
their yard. Chapter members put on their
gardening gloves and cleaned the yard with
tools provided by the City of San Antonio.
The efforts proved to be worthwhile not only
for the members themselves but for the
residents since they now have a home with a
descent appearance in their neighborhood.
At the second home, HOPE members not only
tackled the front yard but also provided
assistance in removing trash from the
property. The homeowner had experienced
the unfortunate death of her husband and
her home was becoming an eyesore in the
neighborhood. The homeowner was very
grateful for our help. This provided a
gratifying moment in all of our member’s lives
and we will continue to seek other community
services in the near future.
